If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance

The month of May is about to end giving us a nice, pleasant and lovely weather. I guess June will begin the same way and will allow us to enjoy the forthcoming beginning of the summer!

This month, I have attended various events and also met different people.

I was really impressed by Andrew Logan’s exhibition which took place in his own studio to support the Arts Club Charitable Trust.  We were overwhelmed by the creativity and the space. What an artist!

On the 10th of May, I attended Robbie Wraith private view at Messum in Cork Street and went to listen to Christophe Hespel, what a voice.

We went to the North East London Business Exposition in the Emirates Stadium and also attended the Diplomatical Fair on May 15th. We enjoyed food from everywhere in the world (Brasil, Russia, China and Indonesia) and tasted some lovely and tasty cocktail from Cuba, Brasil and Mexico amongst others...

The Network took place at the Eccleston Square Hotel and the next will be on June 7th at the Penthouse. Save the date and RSVP by clicking on the following link: the network.

The GPN was at the Chinawhite club and we had a great talk by Harold Finley about his new play about the relationship between Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol.  We’ll definitely have to see it.
Will Pike and Tony Sellimi introduced the Velvet Journey: a company which provides personal development and well-being services for gay men.
The next GPN will be at the Penthouse at the Holiday Inn Camden on the June 14th. Save this date and RSVP here.

In May, do as you please...

In May, do as you please... "en mai fait ce qu'il te plait" -an old French saying meaning that when the weather is improving (it should do) we can go out and enjoy ourselves.... Please click on the highlighted words for more information and RSVP.

In March I met with various people involved in properties and financial services. I attended various opening of galleries and was impressed by the Stern Fine Arts in Albermale Street and the Olivier Dassault exhibition at the Opera Gallery.

The Network was at Mahiki in March, Après in April and will be at the Eccleston Square Hotel on the 16th May, save the date! This is the Network with a difference.
There will also be a more intimate dinner on the 22nd May

An Agreeable Society for those involved or with an interest in the Arts will meet on the 23rd May at the Royal Institution of Great Britain.

Le Cercle Francophone was held at Leon de Bruxelles and the next one will be on the 12th June .

Rachel Elbaz presented her new delightful collection in her  Knightsbridge boutique.

GPN was held at the Royal Aeronautical Society in March and in April at the Foundry in Camden, the next one is on the 17th May at Chinawhite with Harold Findley talking about his new play about the relationship between  Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol.  GPN also held its first dinner which was a Taittinger Champagne dinner, the next one is on the 29th May at the Eccleston Square Hotel.

I met with people from the Royal Academy of Music with regard to institute an award in memory of Robert Tear CBE for the Arts Club Charitable Trust and visited the beautiful studio and home of Ruth Macdonald in Regents Park where an exclusive private view will be held on the 13th June, save the date.

I also attended Polari for the first time  with Paul Burston as the MC.

The highlight must have been the Eccentric Dinner with HRH Prince Philip who was in good form as when I toasted him replied " I feel better already". The following month we elected the most eccentric people in United Kingdom. Do look at the website.

This month we had a fantastic evening showcasing the artistry and the French Haute Joaillerie of Zoraste and Marchak. I was like a little boy in a sweet shop with fascinating stones  and the wonderful craftsmanship of the best atelier in the world.

I very much look forward to seeing you again and to welcoming you at one of these events.

Yours ever,

Jean-Francois.

March and the Spring has sprung

Or has it... This is not quite May as yet when you do as you please... This is now March, hope that February was good for you.

For my part it quick started with a showcase at Madame Tussauds and it always nice to see the changes that they are making, I was suppose to go to the event show but never manage to get there as I had several meetings with other professionals in the off market property business and made some extremely useful contacts, finger crossed, this is all going to work out soon.

I went to the Institute of Fundraising for a talk by a NSPCC fundraiser that was inspiring and then to Jo Haigh book launch in partnership with the FT, met my partner in Paris for tea at the Wolesey.

Circa moved to 5 Cavendish Square and I cannot say that this is a really happy arrangement but it seemed popular for this first time.

I met people from the NAZ Project and they will come and talk to the GPN later in the year, the Cercle Francophone was well attended this month and we had fun and good food at the Gore Hotel. Lalique had a reception which Jean-Michel Jarre attended and I went to the opening of Leon de Bruxelles where people from the Travel and Events Industry were invited.

I resigned from my position of Chairman of the Events Committee of the Anglo-Belgian Society and its Council but remain a life member and resigned from the Anglo-Belgian Club which has nothing retained from the Club I joined in 1992.

I started a single night with a difference but we had a rather uneven male/female ratio...

I met Michael Heaven (27) who is a protege of Englebert Humperdinck (75). Michael will have his UK premiere on the 15th March at the GPN and the Press and the Belgian Community has been alerted, he is from Sint Niklaas in Belgium. I recommend that you try and come, you do not have to be gay to enjoy this evening. I also met a very entrepreneurial young person who hires works of arts for a percentage of their value to work places.

I met people from Fashion TV and we had a fashion show at a well know private club in Chelsea

GPN was held at Apres London Lounge and I organise a meeting between two well known jewellers (one French, the other British) with a very talented jewellery designer. More to come soon but this will culminate in a historic exhibition in 2013. I also introduced the same people to the Russian Community in London and this evening will be the Arab Community representative.

I also became a brand ambassador for a well known and very exclusive introduction agency and met with the good and the great of investments at an exclusive wine tasting at the Mayfair Hotel.

The next day I went to court over an interest bill that I actually won, now I have to pay the rest...

This month started with a lovely glass of Champagne in the American Bar of the Savoy with a very good friend who asked me to come and see him.

More next month... remember me for all your needs and please have a look at my new website.... www.jfdor.co.uk

Yours ever,

Jean-Francois.

February is now

Wow, I didn't see January pass, did I blink? Hope you are all well... I have made some resolutions this year and going all the way, you will understand more as you interact with me this year, if not never mind, it was lovely to have our paths crossed.

I started the year atop looking at the fireworks from the penthouse of friends of mine with the view of Westminster Abbey and Big Ben in the foregrounds, this was a great start of the year.

Le Cercle Francophone is going stronger by the day and new people joined the fold regularly. I had calls from St Petersburg for a possible installation at the W and put them in touch with some great artists, we shall see what comes of it. I was impressed with Eva Caridi Sculture at the Ambika P3 and am looking for some space in London to exhibit it, with about 9 tons of steels, this is not an easy task but have sourced some potential venues for it, now this down to negotiation, unless someone want to purchase it that is.

The Arts Club Charitable Trust is growing stronger with the amount of awards and grants given going over the £20,000 mark a year and very pleased with the new energised Trustees who joined recently.

I went to a Carribbean Party to chase the winter blues in Earl's Court of all places, they would have need some professional advise but I had a good time nevertheless meeting a few people. A few other drink party were thrown in by friends and the Eccentric Club had their Friday the 13th dinner party where I sported for the first time my regalia of vice-chairman, someone even spotted quite rightly that the ribbon was from the 32nd degree, those in the know will.

The following day I went to Dennis Gilbert 90th birthday party at the Chelsea Arts Club where he was in good form, telling everyone that he read somewhere that drinking two glasses of red wine of day is good for you but that he could say with certaintly that drinking four was twice as good... I was pleased to see some old friends and we promised to see each other this year. Xavier de Bergeyck had his leaving party not very far and Richard and I went to have a glass of wine with him but we didn't manage to get to Anne Pigalle's headlining at the Rio Cinema.

I was pleased to meet some new friends this month too introduced, as it should be, by present one.

A new LBGT group opened its door on the hot flame of the bankrupt Illiad in a casino, I wonder if this was to say how much they gambled on the day prior to GPN, which is my group that attract now renowned speakers, celebrities and political figures.

I am always fascinated by Jewellery but none more so than 'Haute Joaillerie' that existed since the middle ages and hand crafted in Paris ever since, I am very pleased to have met the creators of Zoraste whose atelier in Paris are doing the very best pieces in the world for people who have very deep pockey, expenses accounts, private islands and such like and yet some are affordable for a truly mesmerizing occasion.

I have also now compiled a list of off market properties in UK that is now valued at over £3 billions and a few more abroad, so if you know someone who want to discreetly buy or sell some great properties anywhere in the world, please let me know. I am also looking for other commercial and residential properties in Central London.

I can recommend any financial or insurance services that you may require through my associates and off course for any Public Relations, Marketing or Events related services that you or your friends and colleague may need in the future. On the LGBT market alone, I am now reaching 2,637,609 people which represent 8% of my total reach (I can see people starting to calculate)... this is the compilation of the last 25 years in London... yes this year in September, it will be 25 years that I have lived here, longer than I have lived in my native Belgium.

I very much look forward to seeing you again soon!

All best wishes,

Jean-Francois.

Last week

Last week was truly exceptional…

Can anyone have too much fun, bliss and live a life of hedonism?

This week was filled with Champagne, Canapés, great food and wines, wonderful places and views, massages, haircut, manicure, more Grand Champagne and meet and greet fascinating people.

Is it wrong to do so in austere time? Well, sometimes one has to come out and let the steam go and really let your hair down, get pampered and enjoy each others company.

I get people together and make it happen.

Monday started at the Dr Ariel Haus Clinic in Harley Street where he treated to a chemical peel, nothing to horrendous, to the contrary this rejuvenate your skin and shave away the years, I was told later in the week that I looked in my early thirties and for those of you who know me well, well, I am 46 and never hid my age away. However some people are wondering where is the portrait in the attic…By the way, you can get 30% off his fees when mentioning my name...

Tuesday I tasted the menu for the Belgian Ball followed by another Taste of Belgium where many brewers and food manufacturer were presenting their food and drinks from Belgium in the evening but in the afternoon I went to see Neil and Eve at Taylors of Old Bond Street (in Jermyn Street) for a haircut and a manicure, this duo has treated me well for several years already and always feel good when coming out of the barber’s chair.

Wednesday I went to Cleo Clinic for a Thai massage where they are using exclusively the Elemis Products so that I can talk about them as they asked me to do their launch on the 7th April so look out for your invitation. Following this I was invited by Aperitif Dinatoire at the ‘Il Bottaccio’ in the afternoon to meet a few Champagne winemakers and taste their fantastic Grand Cru Champagne with great taste and amazing complexity. This professional tasting was followed by more tasting with the selected few from the Button Club in the evening and followed by dancing till the early hours.

Thursday, after visiting some friend’s penthouse in Westminster with stunning views of the main sites of London (more Champagne and canapés) I went sky high to host the Gay Professional Network that enjoyed the very generous hospitality and fantastic views of the Altitude 360 London at the 29th Floor of the Millbank Tower.

Champagne, wines, other drinks and plenty very tasty canapés flowed throughout the evening and Brett Taylor, Chief Executive of The London Business Network, talked about the opportunities that SME have with the impending Olympic Games, many other people had the opportunity to come and speak about their businesses and aspirations and all had a great time. Quite a few people were interested to use the venue for their events and enquiries are flowing toward Peter Kerwood, the Marketing Director who was named in the influential people in a professional magazine that I read recently.

After such a week you will understand that I needed to relax and nothing could have been more of a treat than this hour and a half massage concluded by yet more Champagne at the expert hands of Mario Prevost of the Fit Box, not a cheap feast but well worth the treat, Mario has the knack of completely relaxing you and feeling refreshed and invigorated. After being scrubbed, massaged, kneaded and feeling of total trust in the skillful hands of Mario.

This was a perfect end to a busy week that was spent in late night out, all for work of course.

I am now looking forward to the Belgian Ball next Saturday Black and White and masked... There are still a few places left so hurry if you want to join my tables. Check out http://jeanfrancoisdor.blogspot.com on a regular basis for any updates for parties coming up soon.
