November and December Newsletter

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Esteemed Clients,

Christmas is now only a few weeks away and indeed London, Brussels and Paris are as busy as ever.

The Anglo-Belgian Community will be present on the 6th November at Westminster Abbey at 6pm for the reenactment of the Torch Kindling Ceremony that has been carried ever since after the second World War to link our two countries in a symbolic and moving gesture. this is a free event.

On the same evening Circa is moving to the Institute of Director and will be a very well attended event

Saturday 7th November, The Commonwealth Countries League organise the First Caribbean Evening, Cuisine, Steel Orchestra, Dancers etc… see details here

On the 10th November

On Friday 13th November, The Eponymous Eccentric Club will host its annual dinner of the date. Http:// and on the day of King’s Day. The 15th, my God-Daughter, Noemie, is 20!

On the 18th November France vs Ireland Play-off for the World Cup 2010 with packages starting at € 300 with hospitality at 100 meter of the Stade de France to official VIP within the Stadium prestige or box seats, ask me for information

On the 19th November, the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organises the Golden Bridge Awards, please let me know should you wish to have details.

On the 26th will see the convivial eccentric club drink and on the 29th the Eccentric Club will see the Snooker Tournament that will take place at the Savile Club with other Clubs representatives (members only).

In December, the first is

  • World Aids Day and please do take some time to think about it and those who have left us and those suffering throughout the World.
  • St Nicholas is coming to the Royal Anglo-Belgian Club (
  • A Charity rugby dinner for South African Captain John Smit in the Honourable Artillery Company:

On the 2nd the EIBTM kicks on in Barcelona, the 3rd The Camarilla Ensemble will be at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the frame of Hospital Arts at 1pm, the 4th is Eddie Izzard in Wembley

On the 5th

  • Circa is back again this time in Chelsea, Fulham Road at the Queen’s Elm Gallery in Fulham Road with many surprises.
  • The wonderful Bal de Paris in the Palais du Plessis-Belliere in the Place de la Concorde

On the 7th A champagne visit of Spencer House at Lunch time

On the 11th is the Eccentric Club Dinner

On the 15th The Cercle Francais will show the Film: Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot avec Jacques Tati

On the 16th, Rio Ferdinand live the Dream Foundation launches at Old Billingsgate with an opening by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and guests include: Robbie Williams, David Furnish, James Corden (Gavin & Stacey) Top Premiership Players from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and England colleagues, Frank Lampart and a who’s who of stars from TV/Soap Stars, Fashion, Film, Music, … your chance to rub shoulders with a galaxy of stars at the sames time as supporting the foundation. September and October events

September is nearly finished and since my last posting much has happened.
I started work again at the beginning of June this year and after a trip to Paris for which I am still working towards an achievement, I had Circa, met friends at the Ritz, heard Lord Janner of Brandstone, replaced the bathroom, went to Ascot, sponsored the Gay Business Association, went to Bournemouth, the Guards Chapel, London Pride, Socialite evenings, Doggett’s Coat and Badge Race, Cenotaph, Cercle Francophone, Café de Paris, Hartwell House, Oxfordshire, Society’s events, Eccentric Club’s Events, the Mansion House, Wales, Belgium, Chelsea Physic Gardens, Decayenne’s Events, The Roof Garden, Kenwood House for the Last night of the Proms, was interviewed by “Ici Londres”, met Ambassadors, Ministers, Tycoons, Aristocrats, fashion designers, models started the ‘Salon d’Or’ and went to a few more networking parties and enjoyed life in general: just the run of the mill. 

This month I have to still point out that on Monday afternoon, we have an exceptional visit with Professor Frank James of the Royal Institution on the 28th at 2:30 pm

Tuesday 29th a fortitude of artists come together to exhibit and raise money to help launch WWW.HIV-VIPCLUB.COM 6-10pm at the Queen’s Elm Gallery, 241 Fulham Road, SW£ 6HY. Contact Jason Bradbury

Wednesday, 30th at 7:00 pm a talk by Jasper Becker to the Britain China Trade Association

Thursday 1st October, Thursday the Rotary Club of London organises a Golf Day for its Children Charities, as the teams are already made, please let me know asap if you really want to join them at Hadley Wood.

Saturday 3rd October : A Concert of Opera Aria in the lovely Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair

Sunday 4th October is the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe in Longchamps. Transfer by Jet to Le Bourget or Stay at the Chateau de Bagnols and transfer into Paris by helicopter (1h45’)

Monday 5th October is the Club Circa for Gay London Professionals and we shall be at the Met Bar in Park Lane

Friday 9th October: The Eccentric Club dinner

Tuesday 14th October: Le Cercle Francophone with a projection of La Bete Humaine with Jean Gabin,

Thursday 15th October: Peter Golding’s Jazz ensemble is at the Arts Club; contact me to join our table in the evening (with fellow eccentrics)

Monday 2nd November is the James Bowman concert at the Banqueting Hall 1-2pm

The rest of November will be so busy that you might not see me emerge before December but more soon.

July onwards

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Esteemed Clients,

June has passed us by in a flick and we have been very busy in and around London including a trip to Bournemouth. The House of Lords Dinner on the Terrace was well attended and thank you to those who made the effort of going, this was the same night as Circa so could not stay long and went rather fast.

On the 6th July, I joined the events committee of the Worshipful Company of the Marketors (link below).

On the 9th, I attended a workshop organised by Melia Hotels in London and met again friends from the industry who mingled and booked rooms across Spain, Germany and UK, Emmanuel Ray evening was on the same night and I met some very talented artists and many young people with bright ideas, more to come.

Friday 10th was the Doggett’s Coat and Badge Race on the River and members of the Bishopsgate Ward Club gathered in front on its President apartment on Cheyne Walk to watch the race

Saturday 11th, Belgium celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Cenotaph Ceremony on Whitehall and HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium attended

A small group gathered afterwards at the Hispaniola on the Victoria Embankment for wine and tapas till very late in the afternoon.

Monday 13th, Sir Ian Mills came to talk of his charity to the Rotary Club of London and the 14th after a fitting good bye to Marion at the IOD, I went to celebrate the Bastille Day with the most aristocrats that I could find at the CPFE ;-).

As I am writing this I will go and listen to Nicholas Ellis and its quintet at the Royal Overseas League for the launch of their new CD. Tomorrow showcase of the shadow lounge and Friday Champagne Dinner at Hartwell House before two garden parties over the weekend in the Country. I am passing by several parties that I have to go to, one at the Chelsea Arts Club and a breakfast at the HAC

On the 28th I will attending a banquet at the Mansion House and if some are interested to join me, please let me know, however be warned that this is not cheap. Similarly there might still be one or two tickets left for the Red Cross Ball in Monte Carlo on the 31st.

On Friday 7th August, Circa, the Club for Gay London Professionals and their friends will be in the garden ( of the Arts Club. As every first Friday of the month, weather permitting.

Tuesday 11th august, I think that this is time to: “parler francais dès 19 heures”.

On the 20th I will attend the 30th anniversary party of Gay Times Magazine at the Roof Garden and on the 22nd the last night of the Proms at Kenwood.

I am also announcing the creation of the Salon d’Or that will see some musical, poetic, and political events. We always avoid in polite society to talk about politic, religion and sex, yet we never seem to stop thinking about it. We will debate, talk and enjoy conversation around drinks and nibbles and perhaps dinner. This is a membership Club and for £ 15 per month, you will get invitations to the most exciting events you can get, its first event is on Tuesday 25th August to get to know each other’s.

Thursday 27th and it is eccentric time again as every fourth Thursday of the month. (see above) From the 11th September, (we will have our anniversary dinner, who would have thought that this is already 2 years since the phoenix or should I say owl came back again) The Eccentric Club will have a monthly dinner party.

For next year, I will organise, one morning, an exclusive visit to the famed Garrick Club looking at the various pictures and follow this by Tea and Biscuits.

Saturday 13th I will attend a concert celebrating Mendelssohn Bicentenary given by Santiago Mantas at the Rosslyn Hill Chapel in Hampstead. Tickets at the door start at 7:30 pm call 02077310010 for details

Tuesday 16th Ascot starts again and no doubt all the little parties in the car parks before the racing begin. (In fact that really is where the real races are held against the clock!)

Thursday 18th I will turn 45 and will go for a week in Bournemouth where my parents will join me.

Of note, between the 23rd June and the 19th July at Cowdray Park is the Veuve Cliquot Polo Gold Cup. Fly in by helicopter in 10 minutes from Cliveden. For something different fly into Cliveden between 1st and 5th July and transfer to a vintage launch to attend the Henley Regatta ask me for details if you would like to attend and organise these transfers.

  • Belgium celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Cenotaphe Ceremony in Whitehall and Belgian people will receive notification nearer the time of the very important visit we may have.
  • London Bridge celebrates its 800th anniversary and the Marketors will enjoy a day of festivities in the City dressed in Medieval costume. On the 17th will be a joint fundraising for HIV and the Arts at the Arts Club, likely price will be £ 15.00 minimum donations for drinks and canapés.

Friday 17th will be a fundraising for HIV people and their friends who would like to socialise in an informal manner, please apply to me £ 20.00 per person to include wine and canapés. There will be a silent auction with fantastic prizes.

Tuesday 28th The Worshipful Company of Marketors will host a banquet at the Mansion House.

Thursday 30th Rhian Powell marries Alan Doyle so will be in Wales for some days.

  • The Arts Club Charitable Trust raised £ 12, 950 shared with the Artists donating and thank you on behalf of the Trust to all who attended purchased and donated these fantastic paintings and prints for the Artist’ Soirée.

  • I have been reappointed on the Committee of the Gay Business Association

Monday 18th May is the Artists Soiree/Auction/Excellence in Drawing Awards

This annual gathering of artists, art dealers, critics and members goes fr

om strength to strength. The evening opens with a Champagne reception followed by dinner during which a presentation of prizes to the ‘Excellence in Drawing’ prize-winners followed by an auction in aid of The Arts Club Charitable Trust of which I am the chairman.

The evening is presided over by The Arts Club’s President, Sir Peter Blake and Inge Borg-Scott is organising an excellent collection of works

for sale. This is an excellent opportunity for people to acquire original and valuable works of art and to meet their creators at the same time.
