July onwards

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Esteemed Clients,


June has passed us by in a flick and we have been very busy in and around London including a trip to Bournemouth. The House of Lords Dinner on the Terrace was well attended and thank you to those who made the effort of going, this was the same night as Circa so could not stay long and went rather fast.


On the 6th July, I joined the events committee of the Worshipful Company of the Marketors (link below).


On the 9th, I attended a workshop organised by Melia Hotels in London and met again friends from the industry who mingled and booked rooms across Spain, Germany and UK, Emmanuel Ray evening was on the same night and I met some very talented artists and many young people with bright ideas, more to come.


Friday 10th was the Doggett’s Coat and Badge Race on the River and members of the Bishopsgate Ward Club gathered in front on its President apartment on Cheyne Walk to watch the race










Saturday 11th, Belgium celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Cenotaph Ceremony on Whitehall and HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium attended

A small group gathered afterwards at the Hispaniola on the Victoria Embankment for wine and tapas till very late in the afternoon.

Monday 13th, Sir Ian Mills came to talk of his charity to the Rotary Club of London and the 14th after a fitting good bye to Marion at the IOD, I went to celebrate the Bastille Day with the most aristocrats that I could find at the CPFE ;-).

As I am writing this I will go and listen to Nicholas Ellis and its quintet at the Royal Overseas League for the launch of their new CD. Tomorrow showcase of the shadow lounge and Friday Champagne Dinner at Hartwell House before two garden parties over the weekend in the Country. I am passing by several parties that I have to go to, one at the Chelsea Arts Club and a breakfast at the HAC

On the 28th I will attending a banquet at the Mansion House and if some are interested to join me, please let me know, however be warned that this is not cheap. Similarly there might still be one or two tickets left for the Red Cross Ball in Monte Carlo on the 31st.


On Friday 7th August, Circa, the Club for Gay London Professionals and their friends will be in the garden (www.circa-club.com) of the Arts Club. As every first Friday of the month, weather permitting.

On the 20th I will attend the 30th anniversary party of Gay Times Magazine at the Roof Garden and on the 22nd the last night of the Proms at Kenwood.

I am also announcing the creation of the Salon d’Or that will see some musical, poetic, and political events. We always avoid in polite society to talk about politic, religion and sex, yet we never seem to stop thinking about it. We will debate, talk and enjoy conversation around drinks and nibbles and perhaps dinner. This is a membership Club and for £ 15 per month, you will get invitations to the most exciting events you can get, its first event is on Tuesday 25th August to get to know each other’s.

Thursday 27th and it is eccentric time again as every fourth Thursday of the month. (see above) From the 11th September, (we will have our anniversary dinner, who would have thought that this is already 2 years since the phoenix or should I say owl came back again) The Eccentric Club will have a monthly dinner party.

Tuesday 16th Ascot starts again and no doubt all the little parties in the car parks before the racing begin. (In fact that really is where the real races are held against the clock!)

  • Belgium celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Cenotaphe Ceremony in Whitehall and Belgian people will receive notification nearer the time of the very important visit we may have.
  • London Bridge celebrates its 800th anniversary and the Marketors will enjoy a day of festivities in the City dressed in Medieval costume. On the 17th will be a joint fundraising for HIV and the Arts at the Arts Club, likely price will be £ 15.00 minimum donations for drinks and canapés.

Friday 17th will be a fundraising for HIV people and their friends who would like to socialise in an informal manner, please apply to me £ 20.00 per person to include wine and canapés. There will be a silent auction with fantastic prizes.

Tuesday 28th The Worshipful Company of Marketors will host a banquet at the Mansion House.

Thursday 30th Rhian Powell marries Alan Doyle so will be in Wales for some days.

  • The Arts Club Charitable Trust raised £ 12, 950 shared with the Artists donating and thank you on behalf of the Trust to all who attended purchased and donated these fantastic paintings and prints for the Artist’ Soirée.

  • I have been reappointed on the Committee of the Gay Business Association

Monday 18th May is the Artists Soiree/Auction/Excellence in Drawing Awards

This annual gathering of artists, art dealers, critics and members goes fr

om strength to strength. The evening opens with a Champagne reception followed by dinner during which a presentation of prizes to the ‘Excellence in Drawing’ prize-winners followed by an auction in aid of The Arts Club Charitable Trust of which I am the chairman.

The evening is presided over by The Arts Club’s President, Sir Peter Blake and Inge Borg-Scott is organising an excellent collection of works

for sale. This is an excellent opportunity for people to acquire original and valuable works of art and to meet their creators at the same time.

April 2009 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As some of you might know, I have not been well last year and have been recovering since, thus my silence on the 'net'. I am pleased to say that I am now at 95% better and starting to collate meetings and events for the future.
